Yahoo Releases API for Its Maps

Shortly after Google started talking about theirs, Yahoo started talking about theirs. And I'm talking about Map APIs. Yahoo's is at http://developer.yahoo.net/maps/ .

This page includes documentation, lots of samples, and a pointer to a FAQ and an online mailing list. In order to use the API you will need to have an application ID, and to get an application ID you'll need to have a Yahoo account.

Once you've logged in your Yahoo account, getting an application ID is as simple as requesting one and optionally providing an alternate e-mail address.

There's a rate limit for each of Yahoo's Web services, and it says that each service's documentation has information about its rate limit. However I can't find that information for the Yahoo Maps service.

One thing I did find is a quick example hack for Yahoo Maps. You can see it at http://tinyurl.com/d4eb2 . It's news mapped out on a map of the US. If you did a keyword/source search for a particular state's news, and mapped THAT out -- hmmm..
