August 20, 2005Kludging AND Tag Searches in TechnoratiReader John Tropea has been doing some tag searches in Technorati and has come to the conclusion that the tag searches are forced phrase searches and not AND searches at all. In response he's come up with a horrible kludgy way to fake AND searches in Technorati tags. It involves six wiffle balls per tag, a gallon of seltzer water, some green food coloring, and Feed Digest. You can see it at http://libraryclips.blogsome.com/2005/08/19/technorati-hacks-and-not/. Okay, I lied. It just involves Feed Digest. And when I call it horrible and cludgy, I don't mean that as pejorative to John. Actually it's clever that he figured this out. I just mean that it's horrible and cludgy that any resource forces you to go through THIS MUCH TROUBLE to do a flippin' AND search. I don't think I want to AND search Technorati's tags this badly....
