August 19, 2005More RSS Feeds By E-MailMy posts on RSS feeds by e-mail prompted reader AH to e-mail me and tell me about RSSFwd, another service that lets you read your RSS feeds by e-mail. It's free (though donations are appreciated) and available at http://www.rssfwd.com/ . You can either browse the 2200+ feeds that RSSFwd's readers are already using, or specify your own. You are first asked to preview the feed to make sure that RSSFwd can format it properly. If it looks okay you enter your e-mail address and specify whether you want to share that URL on the front page. That's it. This site also offers a tool for Webmasters to put a link to an e-mailable RSS feed on their site, as well as a bookmarklet. This looks good, though I had one concern; when I looked at ResearchBuzz' RSS feed it appeared it hadn't been updated in several days. The service says that unless a feed is unusually busy, it's polled every 2 hours. Problem? Update: I have been informed at the feed preview is just to make sure that the RSS feed displays properly, and that the content should not be considered fresh.
