Yahoo to Launch Blog Ad Network?

I have no idea why it took them so long, but CNET is reporting that Yahoo is set to launch an ad network for small content publishers. This would compete with Google's AdSense program. This article notes "Yahoo's new service will differ from Google in that it will add human editorial judgment to the selection of ads for content pages." Seems like that would take a lot of humanpower... I look forward to seeing how they'll arrange it.

Ah, here's an update. Yahoo has some words about it at their blog (http://www.ysearchblog.com/archives/000168.html). Interesting bit: "The Yahoo! Publisher Network self-serve beta will also offer phone and email customer service" (more humanpower, but I know a lot of publishers would appreciate this).

At the moment it's invitation-only, and I haven't been invited, so I can't give you more information on it. But I'll keep my eyes peeled.
