September 12, 2005Another Tagging Resource: RawSugarMind you, I am getting addicted to searching del.icio.us, but at the same time I'm exploring other tagging resources as the tagging "thing" continues to evolve. With its page-saving ability, search recommendations, and search hookup to Google I'm digging RawSugar ( http://www.rawsugar.com ). Registering for RawSugar is free. Once you're set up, you can set up a bookmarklet on your browser and RawSugar as you surf, or spend some time exploring their site. The site has the most-recently tagged pages on the front, which led me to find a couple interesting things. (And a couple of things I didn't want to see -- it would be nice if there was a filter for the front page. I was like "Dum de dum de dum de WWWWAAAUGH!" and my eyeballs fell out.) Page listings have title, descriptions, and relevant tags, and if you're logged in a Save button next to the page title (could that be emphasized a little more? Maybe an icon or something?) Once you click the save button you'll get a popup window that'll allow you to change the URL, title, add a description, and add your own set of tags. (The front page also has a "personal" tab which'll allow you to edit/manage your tagged pages.) Can you search the archived bookmarks at RawSugar? But of course. The home page allows you either to search the information at RawSugar or search Google. If you run a search that gets only a few RawSugar results, it'll automatically flip to Google and provide results -- and yes, you can save the Google results from the RawSugar result listings. I get the impression this site is still news -- several searches don't have as many results as you'd think -- but it's worth watching. Posted to Internet-Technology-Tagging | TrackBack
