September 13, 2005Digital Archive Happiness De La CheeseheadIn honor of the 2005 football season being here, I'm writing up the fact that the Wisconsin Historical Society has has a ton of old (Lombardi-era) Green Bay Packers material now available at Turning Points in Wisconsin History: http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/turningpoints/ . The Packers are not one of the items on the category listings, so you'll have to search for them. When you do that you'll get several results, including "Green Bay Packers game programs, 1939-1965", "Green Bay Packers Yearbooks from the Lombardi Era", and "A celebration of the Lombardi Era, 1959-67". Click on one of those items and you'll get an overview of the document (including citation information.) To view the item you'll get a framed page of the document, with a page-by-page outline on the left that allows you to page through. Everything's there, including the ads (including the weirdest Mountain Dew ad I've ever seen.) I found the pages easy to read for the most part, but if you don't you can refer to the "page description" link in the upper right corner that offers a popup window with page information and transcripts. You can also search the documents with a query box in the upper left corner. Posted to Entertainment-Sports | TrackBack
