September 30, 2005GMail Invite Service that Doesn't Even Ask For an AddressThis is interesting. I wonder how they're doing it. GMail Time, at http://www.gmailtime.com/ , is giving away GMail Invites (at this writing they have 100+ available) but they're not asking for e-mail addresses. Instead they ask you to enter in a number that's displayed on the site, which kicks you to GMail's sign-up page for a new account. Note that this isn't completely anonymous -- invitations are donated to the site. Whoever donated your invitation will see your invitation acceptance and your GMail account name. GMail Time also has a nice little tool for making a GMail address icon that you can download and use on your site. I found the pointer to GMail Time via the very lively GMail Tools, a blog available at http://www.gmailtools.com. Hmm.. there are a couple of GMail/Greasemonkey hacks here I wanna check out...
