September 07, 2005Missouri Launches Check a Charity Web SiteThe state of Missouri has launched a Web site for visitors to check on charities and their status in Missouri. It's available at http://www.ago.mo.gov/checkacharity/index.htm . As is noted on the front page, charities are included here voluntarily. If you don't see a charity here it means only that they did not choose to share information (there is submission information on the site if a site wishes to be included.) The site also notes that inclusion in the database does not indicate a "seal of approval" from the Missouri Attorney General. Searching is by full or partial charity name. I did a search for rescue and got four results. Results listings provide just the name of the charity, but by clicking on the name you get additional information including mission, offline and online contact information, revenue, and program as well as administrative expenses.
