November 01, 2005Del.Icio.Us Search Expands Beyond TagsFrom a limited amount of interest I've become a pretty hardcore user of Del.icio.us. Still don't have an account yet, but I do a lot of searching and have a few RSS feeds set up. Sometimes the tag searching is a little frustrating because people don't use the same tags that I would expect them to. Del has responded to this by creating a search function that searches title, description, and tags. You can try it out at http://del.icio.us/search/. (You can also download a browser extension if you're using Mozilla, Firefox, or Netscape.) Search results look like tag search results, except that you get a result count, and that results are not listed in order of newness. However the title and link to the site are included as well as tags related to it and the number of people who have bookmarked that site in Del.icio.us. The tag search is still available; the URL syntax is http://del.icio.us/tag/xyz where xyz is the tag for which you're searching.
