November 19, 2005ResearchBuzz Roundup -- 111905Blinkx (http://www.blinkx.tv) has announced some more content partnerships for its multimedia Web site. They've made a content partnership with the University Channel, which'll make hundreds of hours of academic content available from their site, including content from Harvard, Princeton, and Cambridge. Blinkx has also announced that they will add multimedia content from the Smithsonian to their Web site. This'll include virtual tours, short documentaries, and lectures. The UNLV Libraries have announced a new exhibit, "Before Gaming: Celebrating Las Vegas' Centennial 1905-2005" at http://www.library.unlv.edu/centennial. This is a collection of 37 photographs that show early Las Vegas before it became known as a gambling capital. tectonic has news about a large South Africa search engine to launch this month. It's called Jonga. It is expected to have over 24 million pages covering over 85,000 Web sites. The story has some screen shots and additional details, but unfortunately there's no clear launch date. I'm just getting around to posting this, but -- yes, MSN has http://blogs.msdn.com/msnsearch/archive/2005/11/04/489151.aspx. "we announced [24] a partnership with the British Library to digitize and make available via MSN Book Search, 25 million pages (roughly 100,000 books) from the British Library’s collection over the next year."
