The Durango Herald (Durango Colorado) is planning a new digital archive; the managing editor weighs in with a very enthusiastic editorial. I read this: " But archiving stories will only really be useful if Herald readers collaborate with us to make them accurate. Like any human institution prone to human error, the Herald makes mistakes," and I was going to wig out, thinking they had launched a Wiki to go with their archive. But alas it appears to be a daily column instead.

The most famous politician born in Liverpool is former Prime Minister William Gladstone, who lived from 1809 until 1898. The University of Liverpool is undertaking a project to identify Gladstone's books and electronically catalogue the collection at St. Deiniol's Library. Amsterdam-based Anne Frank House and Berlin's Anne Frank Center have launched the Anne Frank Web guide. The site provides study information for students in primary and early high school, including audio clips and panoramas of the family where her family hid. Africast's got a story about the latest computer and laser technologies being used to create digital models and virtual landscapes of Sub-Saharan Africa. The models are to be stored in a database of African cultural heritage to be available for scholars.
