December 14, 2005Tech Talkin' At WRALI really like doing ResearchBuzz, but I also like writing about the Internet as a whole. There are many times when I see a resource or Internet "thing" that I'd like to cover in ResearchBuzz, but I don't because it's not really within the scope of ResearchBuzz. I'll get more of a chance to do that, as I'm now writing a tech blog for WRAL, a CBS affiliate. The blog's at http://html.wral.com/sh/blogger/wraltechtalk.html. It's pretty new, and I'm still getting used to the format (and to Blogger, frankly; it's been a while since I've used it), but I hope to be posting 4-5 times a week. The content will be about useful/interesting things on the Internet that are not necessarily research-oriented; I hope also to cover how to make the most of useful resources. For example, a recent post highlighted the Washington Post's new set of RSS feeds for active members of Congress, and how you could monitor those via e-mail. I'm experimenting with screenshots. Does it have an RSS feed? Of course it does; you can get it at http://html.wral.com/sh/blogger/wraltechtalk.xml. Can you suggest sites? Of course you can, though I don't yet have a set of guidelines for what I'm looking for. I'm trying to write for people who aren't necessarily crazy about the Internet and search engines, but use them every day. I'm trying to write brief articles that give them hints and tips about useful things the Internet and its resources can do for them. This is still evolving. I'll try to have better guidelines in the future. In the meantime you can send site suggestions (or things you'd like to see covered) to sitesubmit at researchbuzz.com. Please, no attachments, etc. Hey, while you're at WRAL don't forget to check out a few of their other blogs. Their camera folks have an interesting blog at http://html.wral.com/sh/blogger/underexposed.html. And Mike Maze, a meteorologist, has a weather blog at http://html.wral.com/sh/blogger/cumulonimbuscorner.html. (And yes, I did rip off his template.) Posted to Admin | TrackBack
