December 14, 2005Yahoo Redesigns Video Search FrontpageLast week Yahoo! Search announced a redesign of their Video Search page. You can see the announcement from Yahoo's blog at http://www.ysearchblog.com/archives/000222.html, while the changed service itself is at http://www.ysearchblog.com/archives/000222.html. Um, eh, okay. The front page now features sections for Featured Videos (how are they featured? Is that paid positioning? You'd tell us if it was, right?), recently-added videos, and popular searches. (Up in the corner there's also a pointer to the top searches of 2005, at http://tools.search.yahoo.com/top2005/, but this includes Web and image searches as well as videos. As long as I was here I went back and looked at the advanced search a little bit more. You can narrow your search by file type, size, duration, and by domain. You can also filter for adult content as well. I did a search for DDR, and got over 900 results. The thing was, I clicked on four different results and couldn't get to the video (3 404 errors, 1 connection refused) before I got to a video I could actually review. Maybe there should be another search switch for how recently something was added to the index? Posted to Search Engines-Yahoo | TrackBack
