Archive of Solar Cooker Plans and Documents

More groovy stuff to cover in 2006 ... if you're interested in solar cooking, both from the perspective of building
cookers and of making cookers work, check out the vast archives at http://www.solarcooking.org/.

There are several categories of information just off the front page. Plans feature pictures of and detailed plans/instructions for several types of solar cookers, including box-style, panel, and parabolic. (There are also plans on this page for a solar chimney dehydrator, a rocket stove, and a soda bottle pasteurizer.) Many of the plans are available in several languages.

The document page is divided up into many areas, including a FAQ translated into many languages, a newsletter archive (looks a bit sporadic, maybe 3-4 times a year?) technical information ("Principles of Solar Box Cooker Design", "The Physics of Solar Cooking", "Using a Solar Oven as a Radiant Refrigerator at Night", etc.), general information (recipes, checklists, etc.), country reports (alphabetized by country, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe) and a couple of smaller sections for solar food drying, water pasteurization and disinfection, and retained heat cooking.

This site also has what you wouldn't expect, like a big multimedia section with galleries of different types of cookers, interviews, etc. And stuff that you might expect like a giant resources section (links, books, supplies, recipes, etc.) and a discussion group (hosted by Topica, unfortunately -- not my first choice.) It looks like a strong attempt has been made to make everything as multilingual as possible. Very nice.
