February 13, 2006Database of Child Care Facilities in TexasThe state of Texas has a database that allows you to search for information for child care facilities, both day center centers and residential operations. It's available without registration or cost at www.txchildcaresearch.org. The search is divided into day cares and residential operation. Each one allows you to search for several factors including type of operation (halfway house, emergency shelter, institution providing basic child care, etc), age ranged served, zip code, permit type, and special needs served. I did a search for basic child care providers in Lubbock, Texas. I got three results in a table providing institution type, name, location, county, and phone number. When I clicked on the name of the institution I got additional information about it, including additional online and offline contact information, permit issuance date, capacity, and ages served. There's also information on the last five inspections and reports, including detailed information about any violations at the facilities (detailed as in "One toilet was in need of repair.") Very fast results, especially for the level of detail being presented about each facility. Well done. Posted to US-Texas | TrackBack
