February 04, 2006ResearchBuzz Roundup 012406One Entry to Research, described as a blog "to make critical assessment of the multidisciplinary citation databases Web of Science, Scopus and Google Scholar." One entry at this writing, available at http://oneentry.wordpress.com/. Load your Firefox bookmarks into del.icio.us with the del.icio.us loader. Note the blog entry about the tool; people with really enormous bookmarks files seem to be having a problem getting the entire thing to load. The Board of Directors of Autism Speaks has voted to award $2.26 million for the creation of a online resource for autism research. Kennedy Krieger Institute will develop an interactive database for individuals with autism and their families. The searchable database will feature chat sessions, message boards as well as a calendar links to additional resources and researchers. You can read the press release at PR Newswire. Oscar the Grouch would be proud: GarbageScout allows people to e-mail phone pictures of free/abandoned items (filing cabinets and a TV were two examples when I looked at it) and have the location mapped to a Google map. Visitors can look at the map, see the pictures, and also see updates for the item (it can be tagged as "gone" so you don't have to waste your time driving all over Manhattan trying to get those groovy free filing cabinets.) Hey comic nerds. Groove out to the Ultimate Comic Shop map. I know they've missed at least a couple in my area, but there are a gobsmackin' number of comic shops listed here.
