Ahhhh, Ma.gnolias.... New Tag Site

You know, when I think of magnolias I think of Georgia and mint juleps. I do not think about San Francisco. But all right. Ma.gnolia.com is a new tagging site available at http://ma.gnolia.com/. Well, the search isn't totally tag. It has some nice options. But it's a bit slow.

The search for this tagging and bookmark site is on the right side of the page. You can do a plain keyword search for restrict your search to just tags, or to just title and description. Further, you can restrict your result to just sites rated over a certain number of stars.

I did a search for Flickr. I got over 4200 results which looked like they were sorted by date. Results included a rating (most of them weren't rated), description of tags, person who bookmarked it, and the date and time it was bookmarked. A "View Details" link takes you to additional information, including regular URL and short link (a product of Ma.gnolia), and a list of other people on the service who also have that link in their bookmarks. The results also have RSS and Atom feeds available, as well as "lite" versions of Atom and RSS feeds (the "lite" versions look like they're the same as the regular feeds but they skip descriptions and commentary.) Ma.gnolia bookmarks have been added to the tags section of Kebberfegg.

Don't wanna search, you can also browse. Ma.g has both a tag cloud and listing of tags, A to Z, at http://ma.gnolia.com/tags. You can both browse and search for users at http://ma.gnolia.com/people. And Ma.g even has groups for bookmarks. You can search and browse those at http://ma.gnolia.com/groups.

It's not like the Web doesn't already have lot of these tagging sites. But I like Ma.gnolia for its thoughtful little extras -- the extra search options, the ability to have both light and regular RSS feeds for its tag search results, and the many groups already available. I look forward to watching it.
