Tracking Words in the News

If you got interested in Yahoo's Buzz Game but are looking for something a little less tech-oriented, you might want to try Trendio, which tracks the popularity of words in the news. Check it out at http://www.trendio.com/en/index.php.

If you sign up to play, you get $10K in fantasy money to play with, but you don't have to be signed up or logged in to browse the various words being tracked. There's a word cloud available at http://www.trendio.com/en/wordlist.php. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to search for words.

The front page has the top gaining and losing words and there's a FAQ for the whole thing. Trendio uses 3000 online news sources to seed their stocks; I wonder if you could do something similar for the blogosphere?
