MSN ends Usenet access

MSN is ending access to Usenet for its users; story on it at http://news.cnet.com /news/0-1005-200-1555559.html . If you're affected with this and find yourself sans newsgroups, you can get access at Deja, of course ( see http://x29.deja.com/=kr /help/help_regstr.shtml for information on registering for My Deja and getting access to a variety of community tools) Supernews (paid access with a variety of plans, starting at around $14 a month, see http://www.supernews.com/ indi_acct_info.html for more details), or NewsGuy (offers Web space and e-mail in addition to Usenet access with two subscription levels, more details at http://www.newsguy.com/overview.ht m .) You can get pointers to more Usenet feed services at http://dmoz.org/Comput ers/Usenet/Feed_Services/ . Even if your service provider offers Usenet, you may want to investigate one of these services if you're trying to avoid Usenet spam, you want different options for how you access Usenet messages (web vs. standalone application) or your provider only retains Usenet messages for a short period of time and you're missing messages because they "cycle off" your provider's server.
