December 25, 2002Internet Search Engine DatabaseI like ISEDB.com, the Internet Search Engine Database, at http://www.isedb.com/ . This site provides information on directories and search engines, as well as articles and news. From the front page you'll see pages for listings of search engines and directories. Underneath that you'll see a list of the most recently-added search engines and directory (looks like things are added to this site fairly frequently.) Over on the right are links to articles and news -- offsite articles are listed too (in fact, I saw a ResearchBuzz article listed.) The heart of the site is the directories page ( http://www.isedb.com/index.php?t=sub_pages&cat=2 ) and the search engines page ( http://www.isedb.com/index.php?t=sub_pages&cat=3 ). Categories for each of the listings look like this: General Search Engines ( 0 / 4 ) The (0 / 4) means there are 0 subcategories and 4 items in the listings. Items include the title, a brief annotation, ratings, a link to reviews if any, and a note as to whether or not the resource accepts new submissions. With some of the categories -- like the extensive listings of pay-per-click engines -- you might think that this is very Webmaster-oriented, but it's not. Some of these directories are clearly not for webmasters (CIA World Factbook, anyone?) and many of the annotations I read were as oriented toward end users as prospective web masters. This is a nice resource. Posted in the following categories: Search Engines-Various | TrackBack
