November 18, 2003Utah Offers State Services DirectoryThe state of Utah has launched Utah Cares, a directory which allows you to find state services by need, group, or provider. It's available at http://utahcares.utah.gov/ereppub/en/ScreenReferralHomePage.do? As I've already noted, there are several ways to get to the information offered on the site. If you search by need, you'll be asked several questions, starting with what you need help with. Following questions will vary based on what you checked. Finally you'll be asked to select a location (either statewide, a county, or a zip code), and you'll be given a list of providers which includes a description, offline contact information, and a link to get additional (extensive) information on the agency. You'll also have the option to request a referral, send information by e-mail, or print out provider information. The other two search types are much simpler. For the group search, you check the boxes of the groups in which you're interested (from mentally disabled to the underemployed/unemployed). For the provider search, you can search by keyword and include the kind of people getting help and the kind of help they can get, as well as geographic area.
