February 28, 2001American Memory Adds More CollectionsThose cool folks at American Memory have added a couple of new exhibits to their site. first one is "Traveling Culture: Circuit Chautauqua in the Twentieth Century." This exhibit shows 7,949 publicity brochures and promotional materials for over 4,500 events given for performers on the circuits at the beginning of the 20th century. It's available at http://memory.loc.gov/amm em/award98/iauhtml/ . You may search by keyword or browse the collection by subject (Korea, postcards, vocal duets, etc.) You can also browse by performer name if there's one you're interested in. Materials can be viewed as graphic files, or brochures can be downloaded at one time as PDF files. The other exhibit is "Prairie Settlement: Nebraska Photographs and Family Letters" at http://memory.loc.gov/am mem/award98/nbhihtml/ . This site contains about 3,000 pages of family letters, and about 3,000 photographs covering the settlement of Nebraska between 1886 and 1912. This exhibit is searchable by keyword, of course, but it also browsable by subjects, correspondent, and date. Posted in the following categories: Reference-Libraries-Collections | TrackBack
