November 21, 2003Cartoon ResearchI confess, to me the words "cartoon" and "research" don't exactly go hand-in-hand. But after visiting the Cartoon Research Web site, I might have to change my mind. Cartoon Research ( http://www.cartoonresearch.com/ ) contains a variety of information of cartoons, from a list of cartoon features that spans decades to leader cards of classic cartoon shorts to trailers of current/upcoming cartoons. Let's start with the catalog of cartoon features, which you can access from the menu on the left. The catalog is divided into several sections by date (the first one is 1937-1980, and the last one is 2001-2003.) Catalog information includes name of the feature, date, description, and in the later listings box office totals. There are over 300 items on this features list. The classic shorts pages are divided by company and include main titles -- the opening title cards and some background information about the company's cartoon shorts. And the trailer pointers link to off-site videos of upcoming cartoon features. Jerry Beck, the main behind this site, surely knows his stuff. Check the FAQs for some answers to cartoon questions you might not have even known you had.
