Format an RSS Feed and Put It On Your Site

Periodically I get an e-mail from someone asking me how they can put an RSS feed on their Web site. There are tools which allow you to do it, but I haven't often seen online services designed
to format RSS feeds for Web site use until now. Feedroll, at http://www.feedroll.com , allows you to specify the RSS feed you want, format it, and receive a JavaScript snippet that'll let you include that feed on your Web site.

For example, let's say that you want to include the ResearchBuzz RSS feed on your site. (And by the way, if anyone really does want to include the ResearchBuzz feed on their site, and they want a shorter feed than the one that's currently offered, drop a note and let me know. I can set up multiple RSS feeds with Movable Type.)

Anyway, first thing you do is specify the RSS feed in the form box on the right: http://www.researchbuzz.com/researchbuzz.rss . Then click the Update button. The page will refresh with information about the feed (hmm, I got to update that feed with some additional information.) Below that you'll get the chance to custom the feed, with options include feed width, font, several different colors, and the option of getting an XML button. At the bottom of the page there's another update button. Click that and you'll see on the left of the page a preview of what the feed will look like. If you dig it, you can use the JavaScript code at the bottom of the page to put the feed on your own site. Very nice!
