March 03, 2004Marc Fest Introduces Trackle Web ServiceMarc Fest, the guy behind Quickbrowse and OnlineHomeBase, has rolled out a new Web service. This one is called Trackle, and it's available at http://www.trackle.com/ . Here's how it works. If you have a page that doesn't have an RSS feed that'll keep you updated with new content, or the feed updates too quickly to keep you updated with new content (I have this problem with USNewswire) you'll find Trackle handy. You give it a list of up to 25 URLs, and the hours of the day you want it checked for updates (you can check a site up to 24 times a day.) Trackle will check the page changes and send you the changes in plain-text format. Links are preserved. You can see a sample of how it works at http://www.trackle.com/sample.html . I've been using this for a couple of weeks. In the beginning I had some trouble with how the mailed pages are formatted, but it's gotten much better. Now I wish that you could set update times for individual pages instead of all of them at the same time, but I can't figure out how to do that. Trackle is a paid service; it's $1.95 a month or $19.95 a year. A two-week free trial is available. Posted in the following categories: Internet-Tools | TrackBack
