They Won't Leave Your Head Evah -- Happy Songs Friday

In my 6+ years doing ResearchBuzz I've never had to have a surgical procedure as a direct result of reviewing a Web site. But that may change. After reviewing http://www.wohmart.com/tec/ , I'm afraid I need a Yards and Yards of Yellow Yarn ectomy.

This site is The Electric Company Digital Archive. The Electric Company ran in the 70s, and I watched it in the early 70s. 30 years later, at COUGHCOUGHCOUGHCOUGHCOUGH years old, I remembered little about the show except a couple of Tom Lehrer songs. So I wandered through the site, found the MP3 archive (there's also a video archive) and gawked at the huge number of files available, from theme songs to skit songs to cartoon songs.

I picked a song at random, one I didn't remember, and wondered if I could remember it: "(Yards and Yards of) Yellow Yarn." I listened to it, and suddenly I remembered the song and the whole skit. And I continued to remember it. For the next two days. Through a dentist appointment, work, a lunch meeting, and various other activities I found myself randomly warbling, "YARDS and YARDS of YELLOW YARN!"

So a warning. If you watched The Electric Company as a kid, you'll appreciate the nostalgia and the huge number of music files available. But be sure to have a couple of other CDs handy if you happen to get something stuck in your head.
