Whoopee! FindArticles Now Offering Serious Search Syntax

For a long time I have had a love-hate relationship with FindArticles. On one hand I loved the idea of a huge collection of magazine articles. On the other hand the fact that you couldn't sort results by date, couldn't search by date at all in fact, made its usefulness over time minimal.

But now I'm happy to report that FindArticles ( http://articles.findarticles.com/p/home?tb=art ) offers a lovely advanced search page which allows both the ability to sort by date and search in a specified date range.

At this point there are over 2.5 million articles from over 500 publications. The site's advanced search page, at http://articles.findarticles.com/p/advanced?tb=art , allows you to specify a list of particular periodicals to search (a SOURCE LIST! Oh, hurray!) particular topics to search, a date range to search (between 1950 and 2005) and a number of pages in the article (more or less than up to ten pages.) Finally you can sort your results by either relevance or date.

I did a full search for "supply analysis" and got 15 results. Results include headline, summary, source, and date, with the option to search within the publication. Once you're looking at the article you'll also have the option to view it in a print-friendlier format.

It's taken a long time to get this syntax for this database, but now that it's here it's great. Now..hmm.. how about some RSS feeds? :->
