June 10, 2004Getting Help In TennesseeThe state of Tennessee has a Web site for finding help with state services. It's called TennHelp and it's available at http://www.tennhelp.com/ . You can either search by agency name or start your jaunt through a help wizard. The wizard has a series of categories from which you can choose what you're trying to find, from Adoption and Foster Care information to Youth Activities. Each category has a thorough description. I chose housing. Once you've chosen a category you can chose either a county or a zip code. I chose Union county and got a list of four county resources and four statewide resources. Each search result contains only the name of the resource and offline contact information. But if you click on the name of the resource you'll get additional information, including contact name, hours of operation, description, conditions that apply, and the last date the entry was updated.
