Recovering Your Weblogs.com Site Using Google -- A Couple Extra Suggestions

Actually these will work when you need to recover old sites which have been indexed in Google, if your host has died or some horror befell your data, etc. Building on Glenn's Suggestions:

1) Don't try to use a keyword. Either use the site: syntax by itself, which works now (site:tom.weblogs.com) or mix the site: syntax with the inurl: syntax --

site:tom.weblogs.com inurl:tom.weblogs.com

-- this'll pull a full list of results.

2) If you have an extremely popular site, pull out one of your most popular entries (if you can determine such) or something unique to your site -- slogan, copyright disclaimer, whatever -- and search for that. Someone might be mirroring some of your content, especially if you use complete RSS feeds.

3) Try Gigablast! Gigablast ( http://www.gigablast.com ) also caches indexed pages, and can be used as a jumping-off point to the Internet Archive, as it tries to link pages to older versions available at the Internet Archive. Check and see if your site can be found at the Internet Archive.

Anyway, just some thoughts if something has made your data decide to make it defunct-y.
