August 03, 2004Another Source for Keyword-Specific RSS News FeedsHow much of a nerd am I? I'm so much of a nerd I love keyword-specific RSS feeds. When I'm trying to search for a subject or keep up on a subject they're a wonderful resource. With that in mind, let me tell you about All Headline News, a news search engine with about 7800 sources and, yes, keyword-specific RSS feeds. It's at http://www.allheadlinenews.com . Unlike many news search engines the site doesn't put a bunch of categories on the front page. Instead there's a list of top headlines that links to stories. (Also somewhat unusually AllHeadlineNews.com is a content provider -- it seems to have its own AP feed.) There are categories available at the top of the page, and if you look at the "More News" pulldown menu at the top of the page, you'll see that you can get topical news from Aboriginal to Zoos. And of course the news is keyword-searchable. A search for "Shyamalan" found 26 articles (result count at the bottom of the page) listed ten to a page. The RSS link is at the top of the results -- look for the orange XML button. If RSS ain't your thing, you can also get a daily e-mail of the top stories. I'm a bit disappointed by that; the site went to all the trouble to break out several different categories and about a zillion topics of news, and the only e-mail I can get is for the top news stories? Feh. Aside from that quibble, well worth a look.
