Camp Ruston Information Now Available Online

Camp Ruston was one of the largest prisoner of war camps in the US during World War II. At its peak the camp held over 4,300 prisoners. Information about the camp is now available via the Louisiana Digital Library at http://louisdl.louislibraries.org/CMPRT/Pages/home.html .

The search is at the bottom of the front page and allows you to do full keyword searching or searching across title, subject, etc (there are keyword lists if you need help). You may also browse collection images by title.

I started browsing collection images by title. There were 242 images in the list and started with an aerial photograph and concluded with a group picture of Yugoslavian prisoners of war. Other information with the picture includes date, description, format, source, and rights.

I then went back to the search engine and searched for scrip. I got one result which looked like a page from a scrapbook and contained samples of camp scrip, a map to Ruston, pressed flowers, and a photograph of the prisoner.
