Yahoo's No-Query Limit, No For Real

I've gotten a couple of e-mails from folks about Yahoo's No-Query Limit, about which I wrote at http://www.researchbuzz.org/archives/001944.shtml . They were wondering why the no-limit search works when they try it from my site, but not from when they try it at Yahoo's site.

Here's the scoop. Yahoo's does have a no-query limit for their search engine. However, the search form at Yahoo does have a limit of 100 characters or so. My search form gets around that by building a result URL and going straight to that, instead of trying to fill out Yahoo's form.

So if you want to use Yahoo's no-query limit with a really really long query, make a form that builds a Yahoo result URL. Don't try to go through Yahoo's form.
