Cookin’ With Google Update: Gluten-Free

Cookin’ With Google now has a gluten-free option (thanks to reader SP for the suggestion.) With this one I tried a general, non-site specific modifier to include in the search: inurl:glutenfree. There seems to be enough of a standard in recipe/site organizing that it works; try it and see. I love finding things like that.

Microsoft Announces Some Updates to Its Book Search

Microsoft announced on June 9 a couple of updates to its Windows Live Book Search, which it describes as “a service that will enable Web searchers to find answers from authoritative, trusted book content.” The new participants in the projects are the University of California and the University of Toronto libraries. There’s also a new Windows Live Books Publisher Program that’ll allow publishers to submit in-copyright material to the service.

If like me you somehow missed more than rumors of Microsoft’s book search program, you can pick up the threads at http://publisher.live.com. Here you’ll find a FAQ that answers questions about the service. There doesn’t appear to be a live demo available and the service is expected to launch “this year”.
