About ResearchBuzz

ResearchBuzz is designed to cover the world of Internet research. To that end this site provides almost daily updates on search engines, new data managing software, browser technology, large compendiums of information, Web directories — whatever. If in doubt, the final question is, “Would a reference librarian find it useful?” If the answer’s yes, in it goes!In the last few years an effort has been made to build tools relevant to researchers and make them available on this site.

A weekly newsletter is available, or you’re welcome to subscribe to the RSS feed.

About Me

ResearchBuzz is written and edited by me, Tara Calishain. I’ve been crazy about search engines and Internet searching for years; my first book on Internet research, Official Netscape Guide to Internet Research, was published by Ventana in 1996. In fact, ResearchBuzz was started to support the 2nd edition of ONGIR, which was published in April 1998. More recent books of mine include:

  1. Information Trapping, published in December 2006.
  2. Web Search Garage, published in September 2004.
  3. Web Spidering Hacks — I was the secondary author behind Kevin Hemenway, who is an absolute Perl Wizard.
